Also known as Missions

What is Christian Missions?

Christian missions is obeying Christ...After Christ’s death and resurrection, He commanded the disciples to share the Gospel.  The Great Commission still applies to Christians, today.  "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:19-20).

Christian missions is sharing Christ...Jesus made it clear that Christians are to reach out to “all the nations” (Matthew 28:19).  Missions, however, is not limited to overseas ministry.  Along with faithfully supporting those who go to the unreached (overseas), all Christians have the mission to share Christ with family, friends, coworkers, and the community.

Christian missions is relying on Christ...Sharing the Gospel with humility, boldness, and passion is our Christian mission. But we cannot do it alone. The power and results of sharing the Gospel with others, comes from the Lord. He gives us the wisdom, strength, and desire to witness! "Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ,  God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."  (2 Corinthians 5:20-21).

Many Missionaries now prefer to be known as International Workers due to the historical connotation missionaries had in many places in the past.

Chris and Angela Hiebert

Serving in Mexico

Chris and Angela, along with their 3 kids, have been Alliance Canada international workers in Latin America since 2010. When they are in Canada, the Okanagan Valley is home, and it is easily one of their favorite places to return to.

Based in Mexico City, Chris and Angela serve as Area Directors for Mexico, leading a diverse team that is involved in Community Development with Brave Heart, an English-speaking international church, Mandarin Ministry and Mobilization with the Mexico Alliance Church and other partners. Mexico City also serves as an Envision Site for 18-25-year-olds to come and grow as disciples of Jesus and experience more of God’s global heart.

Across Mexico, the fruit of long-faithful ministry is becoming increasingly visible. The Mexican Alliance Church is part of a growing global movement—sending workers from everywhere to everywhere with the hope of Jesus. With their unique cultural strengths, creativity, and resilience, Mexican believers are joining in with God’s mission in places where Christ is not yet known. It is a great privilege to be partners in the Gospel together.  While the team’s role has changed over the many years, the heart of all they do is to make disciples who make disciples and to see followers of Jesus sent from Mexico to the world.

As a church family we are encouraged to personally get involved in the life and ministry of the Hiebert family:

  • Actively praying for them.
  • Financial support. Designate your gift on the 'Church Offering Envelope' (Hieberts - Mexico).

Simon & Jena

Serving in the Red Zone

Jena was a member of PAC and in 2016 felt God calling hre to leave Penticton and head to the far east. She met Simon there who was also called to the region by God. They married, had children and are now part of a church plant in a very challenging region of the 10/40 window. They are not Alliance Missionaries but they are family serving God as an extention of PAC.

Would you please pray for them for boldness in the Gospel and for safety?

You can support them by designating on your offering envelope Simon & Jenna.

If you would like to contact them, please contact the church office.
